Peugeot E-3008: The Lion of Sochaux Roars Again!
The electric fastback SUV is the first to be built on the new "Stella Medium" platform and promises impressive range and charging capabilities. It will be unveiled in Peugeot's Sochaux plant on September 12, 2023, where it will also be manufactured. The range is expected to be up to 700 km.
Visually, Peugeot will further differentiate the 3008 and 5008 models: While the E-3008 will have a more coupé-like appearance, the related, later-coming E-5008 will retain its van-like space-optimized look.
Redesigned I-Cockpit with 21-inch Screen
The newly designed i-Cockpit features a curved panoramic screen that extends from the left edge of the dashboard to over the center console. The total screen diagonal is 21 inches – equivalent to 53.3 centimeters. The frame is not rectangular but trapezoidal in shape, with the upper corners indented. The screen is attached with a rear foot and so appears to float for the occupants. This floating effect is further enhanced by LED ambient lighting below the screen.
Partly Subtly Changed Controls
And because the large curved display above the steering wheel shows a lot, Peugeot also dispenses with a conventional head-up display, which is integrated into the large screen. Several control elements remain on the steering wheel. The two touch-sensitive surfaces near the thumb respond only to pressing, to avoid unintentional operation. In addition, according to Peugeot, there are two new control elements behind the steering wheel.
The prices will be noticeably higher than those of the current models, Peugeot remains silent on the performance – we expect two-wheel and all-wheel versions, the former is likely to deliver around 150 kW, while the latter should deliver more like 200 kW plus. The E-3008 is also expected to make another leap in terms of consumption, in order to achieve the reported range with the not-too-large battery.
What does that mean?
Peugeot has been the number one in France since 2021 – ahead of Renault and is one of the strongest brands of Stellantis. Accordingly, the first “roarer” of Stella Medium belongs to the lion from Socheaux.
