Paris Motor Show 2024: Valeo and TotalEnergies aim to make electric cars more efficient

At this year's Paris Motor Show, the French oil company TotalEnergies and the French supplier Valeo announced that they intend to expand their partnership to optimize the performance of EV batteries. The partnership pursues two main goals, the providers said:

• The development of an innovative cooling technology for EV batteries. Since 2022, TotalEnergies and Valeo have been working together on the development of an immersive cooling solution (liquid dielectric) that keeps the battery at an optimal temperature, improves its autonomy, reduces the carbon footprint, and protects against fire risks. Field trials are underway to confirm the system's performance during very fast charging.
• A single fluid to enhance and optimize the next generation of EVs. The partnership's second program aims to extend the benefits of the new immersive fluids to other parts of the vehicle. The goal is to develop a new thermal management system for EVs that is more energy-efficient and offers greater range.

The partnership reaffirms the commitment of both companies to offer innovative solutions for more sustainable, safer, and environmentally friendly electric vehicles.
