Opel Vivaro Electric: Only 9,000 Euros More Than the Diesel

The electric gap is closing: Thanks to lower operating and maintenance costs, the Vivaro Electric, starting at 39,500 euros, could be worth it compared to the diesel (starting at 30,350 euros). The prices for the new Movano Electric are not yet set. The diesel version starts at 33,800 euros.

After the presentation, the new generation of commercial vehicles Opel Vivaro and Opel Movano are now on sale. The new battery-electric Vivaro Electric is available as a locally emissions-free transporter starting at 39,500 euros net, and the diesel counterpart with an 88 kW diesel engine starts at 30,350 euros. The new Movano starts at 33,800 euros as a van. Both model series show significant improvements in terms of connectivity, ergonomics, and comfort.

They offer, on request, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatible infotainment systems with up to a 10-inch color touchscreen. Wireless smartphone connectivity and charging are also possible, as well as keyless access and start of the vehicles. The new Vivaro makes everyday life easier and safer with up to 18 state-of-the-art driver assistance systems – including dynamic all-around visibility. The Movano has up to 22 electronic helpers on board, allowing it to enable Level 2 assisted driving for the first time in its development.

New Battery in the Vivaro Electric: Up to 350 Kilometers Range

The new Opel Vivaro not only receives the new brand face "Vizor" but also a new battery. In the 50 kWh battery version, up to 223 kilometers should be possible. In the further developed 75 kWh battery variant with the 100 kW/136 PS electric motor, up to 350 kilometers of range without a charging stop should be possible – over 20 kilometers more than before. With the standard 11 kW onboard charger in Germany, charging is as contemporary as with the 100 kW direct current charger, which takes about 38 minutes to go from 5 to 80 percent of battery capacity for the 50 kWh battery, and 45 minutes for the 75 kWh battery. An advanced version of the hydrogen fuel cell Vivaro Hydrogen is already in the planning stages.
