Onomotion to tackle e-cargo bike boom with dual leadership
Since December 2021, Onomotion GmbH in Berlin has established a dual leadership to address the increased demand for their new cargo transport system. Going forward, former technical director and co-founder of the Berlin-based e-cargo bike manufacturer and mobility service provider, Philipp Kahle, will join Beres Seelbach as co-CEO. The goal is to drive the company's development, founded together in 2016, by combining their expertise and knowledge, and to respond to the rapidly growing market demands as stated by the manufacturer.
"Over the past years, we have experienced a rapid transformation from a start-up to a successful mobility service provider. This means our tasks continue to grow more complex. We are now tackling these new challenges with combined forces," explains founder and CEO Seelbach.
Due to their different professional backgrounds, the two co-CEOs complement each other, allowing the Berlin-based company to continue the successful development of recent years, as the provider outlines. Kahle is a trained automotive engineer and expert in electric light vehicles. He has worked on the development of electric vehicles and charging infrastructures, for instance, at GreenPack mobile energy solutions.
A start-up turned into an established company
The goal of rethinking and reshaping urban mobility brought Kahle and Seelbach together with former Volkswagen chief designer Murat Günak. The trio founded Tretbox GmbH in 2016, which has been operating as Onomotion since 2020. Kahle initially designed the ONO e-cargo bike on the drawing board as a two-seater. After several development stages, they claim to have created a new type of commercial vehicle that fundamentally changes urban delivery traffic and moves cargo efficiently and emission-free. The e-cargo bike occupies significantly less space on the road compared to a van, ensuring faster and more effective operations.
"From the beginning, I was thrilled by the idea of developing a new product that could sustainably transform urban logistics and replace conventional vans," explains Kahle.
Various industries benefit from the sustainable solution Currently, Onos are on the road in ten cities, including Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Frankfurt, Leipzig, and the Ruhr area. Customers include the courier, express, and parcel industry (CEP), online grocery retailers, and craft businesses. But the pharmaceutical and wholesale food trades, as well as suppliers of smaller spare parts for auto repair shops or suppliers for laundry services and office supplies, also benefit from the sustainable solution.
