Nissan Max-Out Concept: Will Nissan Bring Back the Electric Convertible?
Bold: The Max-Out combines traditional and extremely futuristic elements and is intended to underscore Nissan's future ambitions in electromobility. In addition to the Max-Out, electric compact vehicles, CUV, SUV, and an electric pick-up are also set to come.
15 new electric vehicles by 2030, prospectively with solid-state batteries
This is at least what the bold “Ambition 2030” strategy envisions, under which a total of 15 fully electric models are to be released on the market by 2030. For this, Nissan plans to invest 15.5 billion Euros over five years. In addition to the new models, they are also researching their own solid-state battery, similar to main competitor Toyota.
The so-called “Ambition Strategy” is now set to be supported by four e-car concepts, including the Max-Out. Three other concepts are branded as Chill-Out, Surf-Out, and Hang-Out. However, while these could fit on corporate platforms and include realistic approaches, the Max-Out with its huge glazed windshield for an extremely airy spatial feeling (a trend that all brands are currently following) and its variable interior is still very far from a production model. It remains to be seen which of the “Out-Models” Nissan will implement.
What does that mean?
Actually, Nissan, with the Leaf and the e-NV 200, was among the pioneers of electric vehicles – and has now convincingly followed up with the Ariya. Nonetheless, one might be surprised by the month-long(!) "Future" event at the headquarters in Yokohama, featuring panel discussions and interactive sessions, which is once again supposed to herald the electric future. 15 models in the next seven years would mean a completely new Nissan program with two new introductions per year. We are excited about this, because if Nissan doesn't manage it, the brand could really be "out" by 2030.
