Nissan: E-Vans will soon also roll on Renault platform

Japanese announce the overdue technology shift to Renault's alliance platform. The successor to the eNV200 and NV250 will therefore be a counterpart to the Kangoo.

The Japanese automobile manufacturer Nissan has announced further plans for the future of its light commercial vehicles. As expected, the provider is switching to Renault's alliance platform, with Nissan vans set to be produced at the French transporter plant and alliance van competence center in Maubeuge. Without providing detailed technical specifications, the company confirmed that the portfolio will include fully electric and internal combustion engine-driven models, both for commercial and private derivatives. Nissan COO Ashwani Gupta stated that joint manufacturing with the alliance partner brings competitive advantages for both companies and is another example of the "win-win strategy."

He assured, however, that customers could continue to expect a strong Nissan identity and the continuation of offering affordable electric vehicles. The Kangoo-derivate NV250 is already produced in Maubeuge, as will all Nissan transporters in the future. They aim to continue the success story that Nissan began with the eNV200, the first all-electric large series transporter, back in 2014, based on the Kangoo Z.E.
