Voltia, the Slovakian converter, has reduced the acquisition costs of its electric transporter based on the Nissan e-NV200 to less than 550 euros in leasing costs per month. The provider of electric vehicles for last-mile delivery aimed to significantly increase the share of electric transporters with an affordable zero-emissions offer. Now, in collaboration with three European leasing companies, the provider has managed to cut the monthly costs for its Nissan e-NV200 XL Voltia electric transporter to below 550 euros. This brings the electric vehicle below the level of comparable diesel models for the first time. According to the provider, a diesel model would cost 300 to 350 euros per month, excluding fuel and other costs. In contrast, the leasing of the electric transporter includes electricity and other costs.

With their financing offers, the cooperation partners aim to further expand electromobility in the light commercial vehicle segment, Voltia states. Market research, according to the Slovakian provider, shows that the acquisition costs of electric vehicles present a significant barrier for SMEs and fleet operators when integrating them into their fleets. So far, their costs are generally higher than those of comparable internal combustion engine models. The main criteria in this segment are price per kilometer and the availability of good financing options.

"For new technology to be accepted by the market, it must not only be clean and reliable but also cheaper than conventional technology. This is especially true in the highly competitive e-commerce logistics sector, which operates with low profit margins and is very cost-sensitive and risk-averse," explains Juraj Ulehla, CEO of Voltia, elucidating the background.

To overcome the financing hurdle and thereby establish electromobility more forcefully, Voltia started a cooperation with leasing companies, aimed at developing a financial product specifically for electric vans. The result is precisely this offer that is below 550 euros per month, including electricity and other costs. The competitive rate is made possible by innovative residual value determination and a combination of longer leasing durations and lower maintenance costs, which reflect the benefits of electric vehicles.

Market studies and Voltia's own historical data show that electric vans have a significantly longer lifecycle than vehicles with combustion engines. This was the decisive factor for partnering leasing companies to significantly reduce the leasing rate compared to today's standards. It also allows for the extension of the leasing term from four to six or even eight years. Under these conditions, the use of electric vans is significantly cheaper from day one compared to conventional diesel vehicles.

The Highlight: Including Maintenance and Electricity

The offer extends to the Nissan e-NV200 XL Voltia, which customers receive at favorable leasing conditions including electricity, insurance, and maintenance. The price depends on the vehicle configuration and country-specific e-mobility subsidies.

The Voltia electric transporter is expected to score points particularly with regard to its reliability. Due to close cooperation with Nissan, the Voltia electric delivery van meets high quality standards. The Voltia electric transporter also comes with the same warranties as its smaller sibling, the e-NV200: five years or 100,000 kilometers for the vehicle and electrical components, and eight years or 160,000 kilometers for the battery.

Due to the close cooperation and the successful independent market launch of the Voltia electric transporter, Nissan has included the Voltia in its official European vehicle lineup as the "Nissan e-NV200 XL Voltia" since May 2020. The vehicle can be purchased through the European dealer network.
