The Aachen-based manufacturer of small electric cars, Next.e.GO Mobile SE, which has restarted following insolvency, has reported unexpectedly high demand for its Life model. The 2021 model year is fully booked, but the company plans to open the order lists for the 2022 model year soon.

"We are, of course, still here to advise and supply our customers, and we are therefore planning to start a reservation campaign shortly to meet the additional demand with our 2022 production, which is expected by the end of the fall," the manufacturer announced.

After the complete restart, the manufacturer awaited spring with numerous innovations. Under the new leadership of former Daimler and Recaro manager Martin Klein as CEO, they recently introduced, among other things, the possibility of THG quota trading, which opens up to users of the small electric cars. In cooperation with the provider fairenergy, up to 300 euros per year can be earned.

The 1,000th model also launched an app

Additionally, almost simultaneously with the production of the 1,000th model, an app was launched that allows remote control and queries of vehicle functions. The first available functions include monitoring the vehicle and battery status in real-time, route planner, car finder, service contacts as well as important key figures and statistics on driving behavior. The vehicle's connectivity is intended to provide the basis for a range of future services, such as data-based, predictive maintenance of the small electric car.

"We want to enable our customers to purchase their e.GO Life conveniently, charge it effortlessly, and use it as easily as possible in everyday life, just like a smartphone. This unique and connected digital user experience defines our innovation and digitization strategy," said Ali Vezvaei, Chairman of the Board, at the presentation of the app.

Further improvements and variants of the Life model have already been announced. For example, a larger 30 kWh battery (previously 21 kWh) will extend the range to up to 200 kilometers in WLTP City (previously 171 km WLTP City), and an 11-kW charger will significantly reduce the charging time of the 3.35-meter mini (previously about 6 hours at 3.7 kW). The top speed will be increased to 125 km/h (previously 122 km/h). Additionally, a cross variant with roof rack will add more pep to the range, as well as a sports version with 80 kW instead of 57 kW power and a top speed of 135 km/h. They have also announced their presence at the Power2Drive trade fair in Munich (May 11-13).
