The automotive supplier presents its award-winning Cargo e-cargo bike from the "Cargobike of the Year" Award as a "Pack" version with a closed box and underfloor module from aluminum specialist Bott, which should be of interest to craftsmen as well as logisticians. The automotive supplier and lightweight construction specialist Mubea has announced another version of its award-winning e-cargo bike "Cargo" for the International Handicrafts Fair in Munich (March 8-12, 2023), which now features a closed box from Junge, a bodywork specialist, and an underfloor module. The latter comes from cooperation partner Bott, is intended to be both a transporter and a mobile workshop, and offers a load capacity of up to 200 kilograms. The Mubea Cargo was the winner of the "International Cargobike of the Year" award initiated by LOGISTRA, which was awarded after a comparison test at IAA TRANSPORTATION last year. The cargo bike underfloor module from Bott's Vario3 series features a long floor plate (860x1,050x12 mm) with 3 integrated lashing rails and stands 200 mm high with a matching heavy-duty drawer, supporting a load of up to 70 kilos. Naturally, there is an anti-slip mat, 3 cross dividers, and 2 individual lashing points on the housing (590x1,050x250 mm). Additionally, there is a side tray with an anti-slip mat (180x1,050x100 mm). The box can accommodate additional loads of up to 150 kg. The box itself comes in three versions with volumes of 1.3, 1.6, and 1.9 cubic meters, bringing the total weight of the bike to 500 kilograms.

For pedal assistance of the 2.77 meter long, 95 centimeter narrow, and 1.99 meter high pedelec up to 25 km/h, a Valeo Cyclee Go7 drive with a 7-speed automatic transmission is now used, providing 130 Nm of torque at the prescribed 250 watts of power. The range is 50 kilometers with a 1.24-kWh battery, with an additional battery available. As usual, there is a maneuvering aid forward and backward up to 6 km/h. The basis of the optionally covered and semi-enclosed vehicle is a lightweight and robust frame made of durable aerospace aluminum with stabilizers and double wishbones with coilover shocks on the front and rear axles. The 16-inch performance wheels with aluminum rims and motorcycle tires, specially developed for cargo use, ensure a safe contact with the road.

Broad Range of Applications

The manufacturer considers the Cargo Pack interesting for a variety of trades that do not need to carry bulky raw materials to the customer, such as work materials, tools, or spare parts. There is great potential especially for electrical installation, heating and plumbing work, but also for painters or locksmiths, according to the provider. Additionally, they promote the fact that drivers do not need a driver's license or insurance to operate the vehicle, and it can be parked anywhere a bicycle can be parked, as long as it doesn't obstruct other road users.

Specifically, the CEP (Couriers, Express, and Parcel) sector is already using electric cargo bike alternatives to avoid traffic jams and double-parking, and to ensure timely deliveries to their customers, the auto supplier continues. However, the trade sector is also increasingly finding itself in a bind in city centers. Besides longer travel times due to traffic, more and more cities are expanding their car-free zones and eliminating necessary parking spaces. Alternative mobility concepts are needed.

"Craftsmanship is the engine of the economy - with our products we can provide an important puzzle piece for urban mobility in this sector," emphasizes Stefan Cuber, Managing Director of the Micromobility Business Unit at Mubea.
