Momentum March 2022: MG Motor achieves EU registration record
MG Motor set a new sales record in Europe in March 2022: 12,378 vehicles of the brand were registered in Europe. This is the best figure that MG Motor has achieved in a single month to date. Compared to March of the previous year, when MG Motor handed over 5,109 vehicles to customers, the result increased by 142 percent. The entire first quarter of 2022 was also a success: MG Motor sold 22,135 vehicles in January, February, and March in Europe – compared to 8,580 units in the same period of the previous year.
“MG Motor is on the right track – despite the challenges posed by the ongoing shortage of computer chips and the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic," said Xinyu Liu, the new CEO of MG Motor Europe. He is pleased:
“This is a great sales result for the brand, which was reintroduced on the European mainland only two and a half years ago. I am pleased that European customers appreciate our products. We expect to continue growing with new exciting products. This month, a new model will be arriving at our distributors: the new MG5 Electric – the world's first all-electric estate car.”
Strong first quarter of 2022 also in Germany
MG Motor also started the year 2022 well in Germany. According to the Federal Motor Transport Authority, 1,371 cars of the brand were registered nationwide in the first quarter – more than in the first three quarters of 2021 combined. “MG Motor has set itself ambitious goals for 2022 in Germany," said Philipp Hempel, Sales & Network Director of MG Motor Germany, adding:
“We are closing the first quarter of 2022 very positively, despite all the current challenges regarding supply chains. Compared to the previous year, we handed over more cars to customers in the first three months of 2022 than in the entire period from January to September last year. This is largely thanks to our very active MG Motor agency partner network, but also to some strategically exciting large customer deliveries for us.”
What does this mean?
MG is on the rise: For comparison – Lexus plans around 6,000 units for the whole of Europe in the entire year 2022. Accordingly, MG has now established itself and is likely to continue its growth as further new models are in the pipeline.
