Mobile payments at the fuel pump expanded
PACE Telematics GmbH has integrated the mobile payment method of the German savings banks called paydirekt into its PACE Drive app. Therefore, drivers using it can also pay cashless at around 400 gas stations in Germany via the app using this method. According to PACE, the app indicates when approaching a gas station if payment by smartphone is possible there. After selecting a fuel pump, users can now also choose paydirekt as the payment method and authorize the payment process via PIN, fingerprint, or facial recognition. The customer then receives a fuel receipt by email, which can be viewed through the app. Afterwards, they can drive away without concerns, as the gas station staff is notified that the fuel has been paid for. The provider of the fuel platform promotes its method with the arguments that one can save the trip to the cashier and also avoid wearing a medical mask (which must be an FFP2 mask in Bavaria, editors note). Additionally, there is no need to leave anyone unattended in the vehicle. paydirekt GmbH is a service provider that, on behalf of German banks and savings banks, oversees the development, operation, and advancement of the banking standard for online payments.
