The station-independent car-sharing provider Miles has launched a new feature in Munich following the start of its electric fleet, allowing its users to make so-called city-to-city trips. This means that a rental can be started in one city where the provider is present and ended in another city with presence.
"The ability to undertake one-way trips to another city offers even more flexibility. That's exactly what personal mobility is about: maximum freedom and comfort," advertises Nora Goette, spokesperson for the car-sharer.
The city-to-city option is available to all users, including so-called rookies, i.e., new drivers. Vehicles booked through a partner platform (FREE NOW, hvv switch, Jelbi, redy) can also be transferred to other cities. A city-to-city fee is charged for parking the vehicles in another city. The fees depend on the vehicle model and whether one holds a Miles Pass. The fee for cars is 19.50 euros and for vans 49.50 euros, with the Silver Pass costing 9.50 euros and the Platinum Pass being free. Exceptions include trips between the cities of the Rhineland and trips between Berlin and Potsdam. Here, cars can be parked in another city free of charge. The vans can be parked in all eight cities. The cars can be parked in the four car cities: Berlin, Potsdam, Hamburg, Munich.
The provider points out that besides the mile-based billing model typical of Miles, the option of daily rates for up to 30 days is also bookable. Additionally, international trips can be undertaken flexibly and spontaneously without prior booking. All neighboring countries of Germany as well as Italy and Liechtenstein are included.
