Milence, the joint venture of Daimler Truck, the Traton Group, and the Volvo Group, announces its second charging hub in France in Perpignan.

This strategically positioned hub, which will be developed in phases, has a significant geographical advantage. It is located near the A9 motorway, a strategic logistics route that connects Spain with France and Northern Europe. This is another step in Milence's vision to accelerate the transition to electric transport for heavy commercial vehicles across Europe.

Further Expansion in France

This announcement follows the opening of Milence's first charging hub in France near Rouen in April 2024. Both hubs embody Milence's commitment to a future without fossil fuels in road transport. To achieve this, Milence is actively expanding its network to create green corridors for road traffic. Milence hubs are not only designed to meet the energy needs of electric trucks but also to improve the overall rest and charging experience for drivers.

Phased Development

The new charging station is located in the city of Perpignan under the administration of the Perpignan City Hall. The city is 40 km from the Spanish border and is situated in an important industrial area for the shipment of fruits and vegetables within the region and throughout Europe.

The hub is being developed in phases. In the first phase, scheduled for September 2024, charging infrastructure will be established alongside on-site facilities such as toilets and showers. Initially, the hub will have three CCS (Combined Charging System) charging points that will serve six bays with up to 400 kW of charging power.

This will be further expanded in the second phase to increase capacity through additional MCS (Megawatt Charging System) charging points. This will significantly increase charging speed and enhance the capacity of the charging hub.

Recognizable Milence Design

Upon completion, the hub will feature the Milence arch, canopies, and additional amenities for drivers. Milence charging stations are open to all trucks, regardless of brand, and the Milence app makes it easy for drivers to locate and make payments. The opening is planned for September 2024.

"We are very pleased to expand our network and announce the development of our second charging hub in France. This new location in Perpignan will strengthen our presence along important corridors and support electric road transport between key logistics centers in southern France and towards Spain. Our commitment to building a sustainable charging infrastructure across Europe is clear, and each new development is a significant step forward," said Anja van Niersen, CEO of Milence.
