Microlino: Germany Launch from 22,690 Euros

The originally targeted 12,000 euros are very far off for the limited Pioneer versions available in two colors, which come with a 10.5 kWh battery: The distribution in Germany is handled by the automotive trading group Astara. The motto of the Isetta remake: Less is more!

Finally, the Microlino is also starting in Germany: The units of the Pioneer version, limited to 999 vehicles, are now available through the distribution channel of the car dealership group Astara. First car transporters full of Microlinos have already been sighted in Germany. The expensive Pioneer version of the electric microcar will be followed by the somewhat cheaper Dolce and Competizione editions, which according to the website will be delivered from Q2/2023, before the entry-level model "Urban" is delivered from the first quarter of 2024, which will then cost from €14,990 gross.

The Pioneer Edition is powered by a 12.5 kW electric motor, which can peak at up to 19 kW. Micro specifies the torque at up to 118 Nm. The top speed is class-standard limited to 90 km/h. The (medium) 10.5 kWh battery should allow up to 177 km range. Charging is via a 2.6 kW onboard charger. According to Micro, AC charging to 80 percent battery level takes four hours.

Following the Pioneer Series, there will be two more battery versions: with 6 kWh and 14 kWh (which will provide up to 91 and 230 kilometers of range, respectively). According to configurator information, the small battery will be available from the first quarter of 2024, and the large battery from the fourth quarter of 2023. Delivery takes place at Motorworld Munich: but this costs an extra €625. Basically, they want to use all of Astara’s mobility and distribution possibilities – both stationary and digital.

For production, the Swiss have founded a new business unit for manufacturing in Italy with production partner CECOMP as a minority shareholder. The production facility in Turin was already occupied in August 2021. According to the information at the time, the production capacity is expected to level out at around 7,500 vehicles per year, although the number of units could optionally be increased to five figures.

In November 2022, 35,000 reservations were reportedly made – if all customers stay on board, it would take almost five years until the last customers received their "Knutschkugel." In the long term, Micro Mobility and Astara plan to expand their sales cooperation to other markets. According to their own statement, Astara – previously active as the Bergé Group – is active in 17 countries.

What does that mean?

Microlino has made it and managed to get the "Knutschkugel" into production! Production is gradually ramping up, and they are now delivering to Germany as well. The advantage for the Swiss: With 7,500 units per year, they are maintaining a realistic production rate. One way or another, they have already made history.
