MG Cyberster: MG celebrates its 100th anniversary at the Goodwood Festival of Speed

Happy birthday MG! Although the first advertisement with the octagon appeared in 1923, the true beginnings of the brand vary depending on the interpretation between 1923 and 1924 – they decided on the latter and are celebrating a grand birthday at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Around Goodwood House in Westhampnett near Chichester, MG Motor reminisces about the beginnings from the 14/28, the present, with models like the MG4 Electric XPOWER, to the future Cyberster, which will be launched in Germany later this year. And with the latter, it returns to its roots: roadsters and convertibles have made the brand famous. Marc Hecht, Director of PR & Communications at MG Motor Germany concludes:

Especially since the Duke of Richmond has a personal connection to the brand through his grandfather, which he explains as follows:

From 1948 to 1966, MG were almost ubiquitous on the race track. Before that, my grandfather led the MG team in the 1930s and won the famous double twelve-hour race at Brooklands in 1931.
