MEVOLT opens largest commercial charging park in Landsberg

After a year of planning and implementation, the 22 new charging stations have brought a total of 52 charging points into operation across three facilities, announced the Landsberg specialist for e-charging infrastructure. The three facilities in Landsberg am Lech go online with charging capacities for the increasing number of electric vehicles in the company, considering climate goals. Like the entire site, they are supplied with 100 percent green electricity from the Landsberg municipal utilities. It is planned to include the photovoltaic system, which is still under construction, after its completion. The project planning included a needs assessment, the expansion of the company car policy to include electric vehicles, as well as the search for providers of charging infrastructure and billing for the charging processes. The project team emphasized that suppliers should ideally come from the region, but at least from Germany. The premium kitchen manufacturer Rational has been in the market for over 50 years and is now considered one of the technology leaders in the industry worldwide.

Of 240 company cars, 40 are electric - trend increasing

The company's fleet in Germany alone comprises around 250 vehicles, of which 40 are electric. The goal of the company's sustainability strategy is to be emission-free by 2030—also at all other locations worldwide. The next step will be to equip the facility in Wittenheim, France, with new charging stations. For the three charging parks in Landsberg am Lech, the Landsberg municipal utilities handled the civil engineering and electrical work as well as the billing for company and service vehicles. "A 'showcase project for our region'," commented Cornelia Schmidt, Head of Sales and Marketing at the municipal utilities, on the good cooperation.

Among the regional partners, Elektrobau Geier integrated the charging stations into the existing power grid. Helmer GmbH took over the installation of Amtron wallboxes from Mennekes. MEVOLT GmbH was commissioned to produce 22 MK22 Duplex Cap Stand stations for the wallboxes. The expansion of the charging facilities at Rational led to numerous inquiries from the workforce, who have had the opportunity to charge their electric vehicles on site for a fee since May 2023. Instead of a company car, they can also choose a compensation allowance and take advantage of bike leasing, which Rational financially supports. The company aims to maintain its reputation as a global market leader in terms of sustainability as well.
