Mercedes eVito: Panel Van and Tourer with 60 kWh battery

Battery update with 60 kWh module for van and tourer: This should allow the e-van to drive up to 242 kilometers. An 11 kW AC charger and 50 kW DC charger are standard, with an 80 kW option. Also EQV with a more affordable package.

Daimler subsidiary Mercedes-Benz Vans has given the eVito Tourer and EQV, as well as the eVito Panel Van, an upgrade in battery and charging technology, including a midsize battery with a net capacity of 60 kWh. The new capacity replaces the model successfully introduced to the market in 2018 and aims to appeal to a significantly broader user base in commercial freight transport with a range of between 242 kilometers and 314 kilometers, depending on usage and outside temperature. The previous net capacity of 35 kWh (41 kWh gross) was sufficient for 130 to a maximum of 150 kilometers. Since October, the 60-kWh version has complemented the previously exclusively available 90-kWh van (100 kWh gross) for the eVito Tourer and the premium EQV version, offering 150 kg more payload at a cheaper entry price of 60,700 euros gross (Tourer) and 67,800 euros gross (EQV250), respectively.

“I am pleased that with the new Mercedes Benz eVito Panel Van, we are opening up commercial electromobility to even more fields of application and that the greater range also provides a solution for suburban and rural areas,” said Klaus Rehkugler, Head of Sales & Marketing Mercedes Benz Vans.

Asynchronous Motor Remains Unchanged

The asynchronous electric motor remains unchanged under the hood, delivering a peak output of 85 kW and a maximum torque of 295 Nm to drive the front wheels. However, the eVito panel van now features a water-cooled AC on-board charger with a maximum charging capacity of 11 kW instead of the previous 7.4 kW, as well as a DC charger. The new model is charged via the CCS charging socket, placed in the front left bumper like the eVito Tourer. In DC mode, the eVito charges as standard with a charging capacity of 50 kW or optionally up to 80 kW. This means the battery should be charged from 10 to 80 percent within 50 or 35 minutes.

Automatic Recuperation

The stepped recuperation via shift paddles behind the steering wheel is retained, supplemented by the DAuto function, which was previously reserved for the Tourer. Here, the system adjusts the strength of the recuperation situationally and in real-time based on information from the safety assistants. Three driving modes remain available: Eco, Normal, and Power. The larger battery also fits under the floor without compromising cargo space, so the two versions of 5.14 and 5.37 meters still offer 6 and 6.6 cubic meters of volume respectively.

Improved Standard Equipment

The standard equipment is also upgraded analogous to the Tourer. The standard now includes 17-inch wheels, driver's seat heating, multifunction steering wheel with trip computer, as well as various assistance and safety systems such as Active Brake Assist, Attention Assist, headlight assistant and cruise control. The eVito panel van is priced starting at 45,990 EUR (net). This includes a maintenance package for four years, covering maintenance costs according to the service manual and manufacturer specifications, as well as a battery certificate up to 160,000 kilometers or eight years. Additionally, the e-van is fully eligible for subsidies.
