Mercedes-Benz offers EQS as a subscription
Mercedes has now added the EQS to its portfolio in a subscription model and is offering the luxury electric vehicle with a flexible term and all-inclusive package alongside the existing subscriptions for the EQA, EQC, and EQV. The subscription offer is particularly aimed at customers who want an uncomplicated and flexible entry into electromobility without long-term commitments, the company says.
"Already a third of our customers in Germany choose a subscription when opting for an electric vehicle. The high demand for our EQ subscriptions proves us right: flexible subscription models are especially in demand for electromobility," says Benedikt Schell, CEO of the Mercedes-Benz Bank.
The EQS subscription offers an easy entry into electromobility without long-term obligations, says Jens Kunath, Head of Sales and Marketing Mercedes-Benz Cars Germany. The EQS can be subscribed to at participating Mercedes-Benz Rent partners at a Comfort rate of 2,699 EUR per month or a Premium rate of 2,999 EUR per month. A one-time start-up fee of 400 EUR is charged at the beginning of the subscription. The subscription rate includes maintenance, warranty repairs, a set of summer and winter tires, comprehensive insurance with a deductible of 1,500 EUR, and free use of Mercedes me Charge. Additionally, the use of Ionity Unlimited for one year is included, offering free charging at High Power Charging stations across Europe. The regular subscription term is 24 months and can be terminated flexibly earlier after a minimum holding period of 6 months, with a notice period of one month (at the end of each month). An annual mileage of 10,000 kilometers is included, with additional mileage packages available for a surcharge.
Green Charging to Guarantee Green Electricity
Customers can also travel sustainably with the vehicle under subscription thanks to Green Charging via the free use of Mercedes me Charge. Using high-quality guarantees of origin, the manufacturer aims to ensure that the electricity amounts charged via Mercedes me Charge feed into the grid from renewable energy sources. A newly introduced Plug & Charge function allows the EQS to be charged more conveniently at Plug & Charge-capable public charging stations. The charging process starts by simply plugging in the charging cable, with no further authentication required. Communication between the vehicle and the charging station occurs directly through the charging cable.
The EQS is the first all-electric luxury sedan from Mercedes-EQ, and it is also the brand’s first vehicle to be based on the modular architecture for electric vehicles. With a drag coefficient of only 0.20, the model is considered the world's most aerodynamic production vehicle. This also benefits the electric range, which is supposed to be up to 780 kilometers according to WLTP. With a fast-charging capacity of up to 200 kW, the manufacturer promises that up to 300 kilometers of range can be charged in just 15 minutes.
