The Mercedes-Benz Sales Germany (MBVD) in Berlin, where the taxi business is located, is currently in the exploratory phase for a new Mercedes-Benz passenger car taxi model of the E and B class. A decision against continuing these two series after a model change has not yet been made.
This was communicated upon request by Alexandra May, Head of Public Relations & Internal Communication at the Mercedes-Benz Sales Germany. She confirmed the taxi commitment in the area of vans Vito Tourer and V-Class and their battery-electric variants. Therefore, there can be no talk of an exit from the taxi business.
The reason for the inquiry was a press release from the Taxi and Rental Car Association Germany (TMV), which included a letter to the Chairman of the Board of Mercedes-Benz Group, Ola Källenius. In it, the TMV takes a stance on the alleged exit from the taxi business concerning the passenger car models.
An inquiry about the truth of the speculation that the current E-Class W 213 sedan has already sold out and is only available as a T-model remained unanswered. According to reports, no contingent of taxis was produced for the sedan. However, there might still be stock vehicles at individual dealers. The delivery dates for the T-model are currently said to be in the first quarter of 2023.
