Mercedes-Benz continues environmental bonus - and criticizes lack of planning security

After the short-term end of the environmental bonus for fully electric vehicles (BEVs) decided by the federal government from December 18, 2023, the automobile manufacturer Mercedes-Benz has announced that it will continue its support for electromobility on its own until the end of the year. They will continue to cover the manufacturer’s share of the previous environmental bonus, and for deliveries and registrations still within this year, they will also cover the state’s share of the subsidy in cases where the customer no longer receives it from the state. This provides an important incentive to continue investing in future-oriented electromobility, argue the Swabians.

“The future of individual mobility is electric. After a house or apartment, a car is usually the second-largest investment decision for households in Germany. Planning security is therefore very important to people; we consider the premature end of the environmental bonus to be premature. In light of this planning security, we have decided to ensure the full environmental bonus at the cost of Mercedes-Benz until the end of 2023,” emphasized Jörg Heinermann, head of Mercedes-Benz Sales Germany (MBD).
