Mercedes-Benz: 35 eCitaro G for Holland
Large order – the two Dutch transport operators Qbuzz and OV-bureau Groningen Drenthe have ordered a total of 35 Mercedes-Benz eCitaro G buses, which are to be delivered to both companies by 2026. 25 eCitaro G buses are intended for regional transport in the provinces of Groningen and Drenthe. The ten 18.13 m long articulated buses ordered by Qbuzz are to be used on the urban Qlink lines in the future.
Details
All eCitaro G buses ordered in smoke silver metallic have NMC 3 batteries of the latest generation with lithium-nickel-manganese-cobalt-oxide cells and an energy capacity of 490 kWh on board. All articulated buses have a charging socket at the rear. The ten, which will be used on the urban Qlink lines in the future, also have the option of fast charging via a pantograph on the bus roof.
Focus on comfort and safety
Numerous assistance systems ensure maximum comfort and safety – the equipment includes the Electronic Stability Program ESP and roll-pitch control as well as the optional Sideguard Assist turning assistant with pedestrian detection and the standard articulation angle control (ATC), which according to Daimler "ensures high stability, impressive maneuverability, and comfortable maneuvering without the rear end buckling – even in reverse gear."
Mirror cams instead of exterior mirrors
Instead of exterior mirrors on the left and right, the eCitaro G is equipped with mirror cameras (Mirror Cams), which considerably increase safety for the entire surroundings of the new articulated buses.
“In the Netherlands, there are many cyclists, so additional safety is particularly important here,” emphasizes Dirk Meppelink, Key Account Manager Public Transport at Daimler Buses in the Netherlands.
Climate
The air conditioning system in the eCitaro articulated buses, which works with a CO2 heat pump, is intended to minimize energy consumption while at the same time creating a "pleasant feel-good climate" in the interior. Separate climate systems are available for passengers and drivers.
