me energy: Fast Charging Without a Grid - Thanks to Bioethanol
Fast charging of electric vehicles in places where there is no connection to a powerful power grid is what the company me energy GmbH from Wildau near Berlin aims to enable with its mobile charging stations. They contain a generator that generates electricity from bioethanol and delivers 4,000 kWh of charging current with a full storage. This should allow not only cars but also taxis and buses to be supplied. The company has been mass-producing the mobile storage units since September 2021. The supply of bioethanol is regulated through a partner network that is currently being established. A monitoring system is intended to monitor the filling level and organize timely replenishment. Customers can also organize the supply themselves.
me energy GmbH cites as an advantage of its mobile storage units that they do not require a building permit and can be placed on a simple foundation. Only grounding needs to be ensured. The company promises a delivery time of five to six months. However, the investment costs are not to be underestimated at just under 130,000 euros. The power storage units do not need to be purchased. They can also be rented or leased, making them, for example, a temporary solution until a depot is built at another location. me energy GmbH is located in the Technology and Science Center of Wildau in Brandenburg. It employs 25 people.
