Maxus T90 EV: First Electric Pickup Truck in Europe Launched
The German import subsidiary of the Chinese state-owned company SAIC Maxomotive has announced the launch of the first electrically driven pick-up in Europe, also on the German market. The Maxus T90 EV is now available for order from 54,990 euros net and is powered by an electric motor with 130 kW/177 hp. It comes as a double-cabin vehicle accommodating up to five people and extensive standard equipment. Additionally, the vehicle is intended to be used like a conventional pick-up.
The manufacturer points to the large bed, measuring 1,485 millimeters in length and 1,510 millimeters in width, with a payload capacity of up to 925 kilograms. Thanks to a permissible trailer load of up to one ton, the pick-up is also supposed to be a capable towing vehicle if needed, though it significantly lags behind the figures of conventional pick-ups. An all-wheel drive is not yet available at launch.
Rear-Wheel Drive and Fast Charging
Power is transmitted to the rear wheels. In conjunction with the 89-kWh LFP high-voltage battery known from the eDeliver 9 van, the combined WLTP range is expected to be 330 kilometers, with up to 471 kilometers possible in city traffic. The driving and responsiveness can be adjusted using three driving modes (Normal, Sport, and Eco). At a fast-charging station, the lithium iron phosphate battery is charged from 20 to 80 percent in about 45 minutes. Alternatively, the nearly 5.37-meter-long pick-up can be connected to a wallbox at the operation site and charged three-phase overnight.
Extensive Equipment Onboard
The "Elite" trimline available at market launch comes standard with comprehensive equipment. In addition to 17-inch alloy wheels and side steps, the open E-transporter features LED daytime running lights and taillights, electrically adjustable exterior mirrors, a cargo bed protector, as well as rear parking sensors and a reversing camera. Safety is ensured by six airbags and an emergency braking assistant. Hill start and hill descent assist are also standard. In the five-seat double cab, there are electrically adjustable front seats with faux leather upholstery, power windows, air conditioning, light and rain sensors, and a multifunction steering wheel.
Eight-Year Warranty on the Battery
The central control element is a 10.25-inch touchscreen, which includes a digital radio DAB+, a Bluetooth interface, and smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay or QD-Link. The standard color is white, while metallic paint is optionally available in blue, black, or gray (surcharge of 650 euros net).
Additionally, extensive warranties are offered: five years on the vehicle (up to 100,000 kilometers) and up to eight years or 160,000 kilometers on the battery. The entry price of 54,990 euros net qualifies the pick-up for government funding through the innovation premium, which can be applied for at the Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control (BAFA). The pick-up complements the already available transporters eDeliver 3, Deliver 9, and eDeliver 9 in Germany.
Translated automatically from German."The new MAXUS T90 EV proves that high payload and alternative drives are by no means mutually exclusive. With Europe's first battery-electric pick-up, we are leading the way and reshaping the vehicle segment. This also lays the foundation for further growth of our brand in Germany and Europe," explains Karsten Dornheim, Brand Manager MAXUS at Maxomotive Germany GmbH, responsible for import and sales.
