Maxus is becoming increasingly independent: While the large eDeliver 9 is still visibly following the example of the Ford Transit, the eDeliver 7 comes with a completely distinctive design. It enters the 3.5-ton class and is built on a completely new platform. Maxus plans to announce the prices for the new model in mid-2023 and start taking orders from August 2023. Deliveries are expected to begin in the UK at the end of 2023. The electric motor delivers a maximum of 150 kW (204 hp) and 330 Nm. Speed will be limited to 120 km/h.
In the smallest L1H1 version, the eDeliver 7 measures 4998 millimeters in length, 2030 millimeters in width, and 1990 millimeters in height. These dimensions allow for a transverse bed with a length of 1.9 meters in a camper and make it suitable for underground parking. The loading volume is 5.9 cubic meters.
The L2H1 version is 5364 millimeters long, with a loading volume of 6.7 cubic meters. The L2H2 version has a height of 2390 millimeters, and the loading volume increases to 8.7 cubic meters.
Up to 1.5 tons towing capacity
The payload limit of the eDeliver 7 is 1200 kilograms for the entry-level model L1H1, while the L2H2 version with the larger 88-kWh battery pack is 1025 kilograms. The towing capacity is 1500 kilograms braked and 750 kilograms unbraked. Due to LDV’s history, the UK will be one of the first markets to be supplied again: There, the eDeliver 7 will be sold with two battery options with a usable capacity of 77 and 88 kWh. According to the WLTP standard, this should allow up to 315 kilometers per charge – in reality, it is likely to be 200 to 250 kilometers.
The eDeliver 7 can be charged with its 11-kW AC onboard charger (AC) with the smaller battery from 5 to 100 percent in eight hours. At DC charging stations, the electric van can draw up to 90 kW of energy. Charging from 20 to 80 percent should take around 43 minutes. The charging performance of the larger battery is not yet known.
Maxus Director Mark Barrett announced another electric transporter at the presentation of the eDeliver 7, the eDeliver 5, which will be positioned between the eDeliver 3 and the eDeliver 7 and will directly target the VW ID. Buzz. There is still no information on the delivery start of the eDeliver 7 in Germany.
What does this mean?
Maxus is increasingly establishing itself in Europe as a strong brand of e-vans. And now it is following up with impressive values. It remains to be hoped that reasonable prices will accompany these impressive values.
