MAN Truck & Bus: eTGL completes electric portfolio

With the eTGL, MAN completes its portfolio of fully electric trucks. The offering now includes weight classes ranging from 12 to 42 tons. "With the new eTGL, MAN becomes a true full-range provider in electromobility," rejoiced Alexander Vlaskamp, CEO of MAN Truck & Bus, at the presentation of the "small one," to which the manufacturer had invited them to the headquarters in Munich yesterday. "From nighttime supermarket deliveries to heavy long-haul transport, transport companies can get zero-emission drives from MAN from a single source." The 12-tonner, whose world premiere MAN is celebrating at the IAA Transportation in Hanover, offers a payload of up to 6.6 tons, based on the pure chassis weight. With a box body, just under five tons remain.

Frame and chassis are based on the 12-ton model of the diesel series. The electric components installed in the truck have already proven themselves in the two heavier "brothers" eTGS and eTGX, Vlaskamp explained at the vehicle's presentation. The eTGL is expected to benefit in terms of durability from this. The two battery packs developed by MAN itself are mounted on the right and left of the frame and offer a usable capacity of 160 kWh. They enable a range of around 235 kilometers without recharging. Charging is done via a CCS connection with up to 250 kW in about 30 minutes.
