MAN: Fruchtkelterei Merg delivers electrically with eTGE
The fruit pressing company Merg GmbH & Co. KG from Gebroth in Rhineland-Palatinate is a small family business that produces juices, syrups, jellies and jams, fruit wines, secco, vinegars, as well as liqueurs and spirits. Only regional fruits are used for this, some of which come from the family's own orchards. According to their own information, the topics of nature and environmental protection have always played a significant role for the family.
"The topic of nature was always emphasized by our parents – it has concerned us from an early age," says Sofie Merg, who, together with her sister Marie, has joined their parents' business.
That's why they try to operate as ecologically as possible in their small business: Only fruits from the region are used in the products from Merg. Furthermore, instead of plastic bottles, reusable glass bottles are filled, which can be washed and reused up to 60 times.
For the delivery of goods, the company also relies on environmentally friendly alternatives and uses the delivery van "MAN eTGE". The electric commercial vehicle is powered exclusively by solar energy from the company's own photovoltaic system.
“Once you've internalized the concept of sustainability, it's not difficult to stay on this course,” adds Marie Merg. MAN's fully electric transporter is a consistent continuation of the Merg company's sustainable strategy. "A customer told my father that MAN is launching a fully electric transporter,” says Marie Merg.
Soon thereafter, the Mergs tested a vehicle and were quickly convinced:
“We decided to buy the MAN eTGE within a week. Driving it is very relaxing and slows you down,” explains Sofie Merg, referring to the almost silent operation of the MAN eTGE.
Her sister Marie also likes this. But she also appreciates the power that the e-transporter offers: “The power is there immediately, you don't even notice the weight you're carrying behind.”
