Premiere for MAN electric buses in Norway – 59 E-Solo and 17 E-articulated buses are set to operate in the Norwegian capital Oslo. Service and maintenance for a duration of up to 12 years are also included in the contract with Unibuss.

"We are very pleased with our first E-bus order from Norway, which seamlessly follows a series of orders from Scandinavia – a great success!" says Rudi Kuchta, Head of Business Unit Bus at MAN Truck & Bus.

Details

The delivery of the 76 MAN Lion’s City E is scheduled for the end of 2023 – with deployment planned on routes in the northeast and east of Oslo. The solo version of the MAN Lion’s City E is equipped with 5 instead of 6 (standard) battery packs and the articulated buses with 7 instead of 8 (standard) battery packs.

“Since this autumn, our customers have been able to decide on the number of battery packs themselves,” says Kuchta, adding: “This allows our fully electric city bus to be even better adapted to individual customer needs and requirements regarding range and passenger capacity.”

More efficiency and, according to MAN, also more range of up to 25 km is promised by the CO2 air conditioning system, which has been optionally available since mid-2022 – and for which Unibuss has opted.

Traveling with a lot of safety

Numerous assistance systems ensure the safety of passengers, drivers, and other road users, such as MAN BirdView, which provides a 360° bird's-eye view of the vehicle's immediate surroundings, and the mirror replacement system MAN OptiView.
The latter assists the driver by eliminating the blind spot and significantly improving visibility at night and in poor weather conditions.

Success story of the Scandinavian market

22 MAN Lion’s City E are already in operation in Malmö, Sweden. In addition, Keolis ordered a total of 75 Lion’s City 18 E for Sweden last year, 60 of which were for Gothenburg and 15 for Stockholm. Also, 10 Lion’s City 12 E are set to operate in the Swedish capital. Furthermore, 12 MAN Lion’s City 18 E articulated buses are listed in Munich’s order book for Uppsala. The framework agreement with Gamla Uppsala Buss also includes an option for a further 65 electric buses. So far, 26 MAN Lion’s City 12 E are in service in the Danish capital Copenhagen, with 12 more operating for Vikingbus in Odder.
