Lucid Air starts in the USA from $77,400
Lucid had previously only announced the performance data of the higher-end versions – now they are following up with the base model. The maximum range of the 588 kW "Grand Touring" version is around 830 kilometers. The "Dream Edition" offers 794 kW and is expected to reach around 800 kilometers. Below that ranks the "Tour" with 456 kW and 653 kilometers of EPA range. But even the "Base" still boasts a single-motor 353 kW and makes no compromises with an estimated EPA range also at 653 kilometers. An "all-wheel drive configuration with two motors" will also be optionally offered here. Like the more expensive variants, the base model also relies on a battery with a 900-volt system voltage.
The largest battery, which is installed in the "Grand Touring" and "Dream Edition," offers a gross capacity of 113 kWh, but Lucid has not yet disclosed the energy capacity of the smaller batteries. It is also unclear what the maximum charging power will be – the large battery is expected to allow up to 300 kW.
Customers can already reserve the base model, which is simply called the Lucid Air, but deliveries will not begin until 2022.
What does this mean?
Lucid is also starting with the models that bring higher margins and set benchmarks in the competitive environment before following up with the "base," which still boasts strong values by today's standards – at affordable rates. This would make for an exciting alternative to the Model S and Daimler EQS.
