Lexus UX 300e: Finally Premium Range

The UX 300e now goes further: With a WLTP consumption of 16.7 to 16.9 kWh/100 km, up to 449 kilometers of range according to WLTP should now be possible – almost 40 percent more than before! In reality, this might always leave about 350 plus or minus x kilometers, making longer trips much more relaxed.

Perfection in details: Lexus subtly improved even the bodywork!

Japanese perfection also in details: The body rigidity has been increased through additional welding points and a steel reinforcement of the tailgate. Additionally, Lexus has readjusted the power steering and shock absorbers to give the UX 300e a crisper drive. The safety arsenal has been expanded with an intersection assistant that aims to prevent collisions with oncoming vehicles and crossing pedestrians when turning. The adaptive cruise control now also adjusts speed before and through curves. An emergency steering assistant also helps safely avoid obstacles without leaving the lane.

And of course, Lexus has also upgraded the interior: It now features a new multimedia system with an eight or twelve-inch touchscreen and voice control. The Japanese promise better connectivity, faster and easier operation, and cloud-based navigation for this purpose.

The new display, which moves 14 centimeters forward and closer to the driver, replaces the previous touchpad control. This has created space in the center console, which now houses a small storage compartment or the controls for the seat heating, depending on the equipment level. There is also an illuminated storage compartment in front of the climate control panel.

Lexus also offers generous battery warranties

And the warranties are also generous: As a proof of quality, which should also increase the acceptance of electric vehicles, Lexus grants a standard manufacturer's warranty of eight years or 160,000 kilometers that covers a reduction in battery capacity below 70 percent – standard fare. But there is also a five-year or 100,000-kilometer warranty on all functional defects of the main BEV battery. The extended BEV Care warranty covers defects in the main battery and a capacity reduction below 70 percent for up to ten years or one million kilometers. The condition is the regular maintenance specified in certified Lexus workshops.

Lexus is confident, based on its long-standing experience with battery technologies, that the actual capacity at this point is likely to be over 85%. The UX has now become the second most popular Lexus in Europe: of the 14,559 units sold, nearly 1,900 were electric UXes – and this number is expected to be significantly higher in the future!

What does this mean?

Range was one of the major drawbacks of the UX that Lexus has now addressed. The new model is likely to be sold electrically much more frequently than its predecessor.
