LEVC: Partition screen with seal ensures more safety

With a sealing kit, the manufacturer of the hybrid cab aims to improve hygiene on board beyond the standard partition and thereby also score points during the pandemic.

The British-Chinese commercial vehicle manufacturer LEVC has equipped its partially electric TX Taxi and TX Shuttle vehicles with a partition wall as standard, which is intended to separate the driver and passenger compartments. Now, they have also developed a driver's protection screen seal as an accessory, which is designed to block small respiratory gaps in the partition wall and completely close the payment window. With the additional protection screen seal, the airflow is further reduced without causing leaks between the driver and passenger cabins, promising even greater protection against the transmission of airborne droplets.

Additionally, the vehicle features a multi-filter system that prevents gases and particles from entering the cabin. An integrated air quality sensor automatically closes the outside air intake when there is an increased level of pollution in the outside air, as described by the manufacturer. Finally, the easily cleanable interior, which can be sanitized after each passenger change, enables the hygienic conditions in the vehicle. An intercom system allows for easy direct communication at a distance, the company further markets.

All sealed: Now installable for German customers

The aim is to support German shuttle and taxi companies during the currently challenging Corona times and to improve hygiene safety and the quality of stay for passengers, providing owners of German TX models with such a "Seal-Kit" free of charge. The rubber seals can now be installed by the responsible LEVC dealers.

The provider points to numerous on-demand services such as ioki in Hamburg, Revierflitzer in Oberhausen, MAINZRider in Mainz, AnrufBus in Hellern, eHopper in Hainburg, Clevershuttle and “Hol mich! App” in Wuppertal, which also maintained operations during the pandemic.

"Our LOOPmünster started in September 2020, right in the middle of the pandemic. We welcome around 550 passengers daily in the ten LEVCs, and pooling multiple passengers works very well – for us, the on-demand service is a complete success. Not least because in this difficult situation, the partition in the LEVC separates passengers from the driver and thus protects both," reports Frank Gäfgen, Managing Director of Mobility at Stadtwerke Münster, from practical experience.

Taxi companies from all over Germany, including Munich, Hamburg, Berlin, and Düsseldorf, are also relying on the plug-in hybrid model with range-extender petrol engine. In addition to the partition, the so-called eCity technology is also convincing, which allows an electric range of up to 101 kilometers with the flexibility of a total range of 510 kilometers including the range extender.

"In the course of the pandemic, the protective interior specially developed for our TX has become even more attractive as it offers a high-quality and safe passenger experience," explained Jörg Hofmann, CEO of LEVC.
