Leoni recovers after debt relief – focusing also on e-mobility

The Franconian automotive supplier Leoni is reportedly getting back on track after difficult and loss-making years. The specialist in cables and on-board networks was able to increase its revenue from 5.09 billion to 5.46 billion euros last year, according to a company spokesman. "Good progress has been made" in earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT). Leoni did not provide more specific details about the earnings situation. The current environment in the automotive industry is challenging. The company employs around 95,000 people in 26 countries worldwide.

High Pace of Innovation

Leoni is currently developing innovative solutions, such as cables that enable faster charging for electric cars. Cooling fluid within the cable reduces the temperature and allows for higher current, which leads to significantly faster charging speeds. According to Leoni, the solution is approaching market readiness. Leoni has set a goal to reduce its CO₂ footprint by half compared to the base year 2023 by 2030. In addition to more circular economy practices, such as the materials used, new biological materials and material mixtures are expected to contribute to this aim.
