Lease a Bike becomes the title sponsor for Team Visma - and aims to establish the bicycle in everyday life

Cycling as a messenger: Pon's subsidiary, Lease a Bike, is expanding its commitment to Team Visma and aims to establish the bicycle as a means of transportation for sports, leisure, and everyday life as the title sponsor.

Not only to be the first to cross the finish line, but to get people on bikes: That is the self-declared goal of the newly established Team Visma / Lease a Bike, which was presented in Amsterdam. | Photo: Lease a Bike

The bicycle leasing specialist Lease a Bike is expanding its commitment to cycling and aims to make the bike more popular as a daily mode of transportation. The former Jumbo-Visma team, which looks back on a successful season with victories in all three major tours, has been continuing as Team Visma | Lease a Bike since January 1, 2024. Both Visma and Lease a Bike have signed a contract as title sponsors for an indefinite period. Lease a Bike, a subsidiary of the Dutch Pon Holdings, had already committed as a sub-sponsor of the team on January 1, 2023.

"Lease a Bike's mission is to inspire everyone to get on their bikes – to exercise, to commute to work, and in everyday life. We want to encourage people to live healthier and more sustainable lives, and we see Team Visma | Lease a Bike as a way to further promote bicycle culture around the world," says Ward Matser, Managing Director of Lease a Bike, advocating for the commitment.

On December 21, the Visma | Lease a Bike team, along with its riders, main goals, new corporate identity, and new team jersey, was introduced to the media, partners, and the public at Move Amsterdam. The Visma | Lease a Bike team has strengthened its lineup for 2024 with talented riders such as Cian Uijtdebroeks, Ben Tulett, and Matteo Jorgenson. Additionally, Per Strand Hagens, Johannes Staune-Mittet, and Loe van Belle have moved from the Development Team to the WorldTour Team. The team aims not only to be the first to cross the finish line but also to inspire a passion for cycling in others and encourage them to pursue their own dreams, according to a statement.

"Our goal as Team Visma | Lease a Bike is not only to overcome sporting challenges but also to bring about positive changes in society – to get people on the streets and race tracks around the world and to highlight the benefits of cycling," emphasized Christian Wölbern, CEO of Lease a Bike.
