Lancia has now unveiled the three trim levels for the new Lancia Ypsilon. There are hybrid and electric versions, starting with the entry-level trim "New Lancia Ypsilon." An upscale interior variant is offered with the "New Lancia Ypsilon LX," which is topped only by the comfort trim line "Nuova Lancia Ypsilon Edizione Cassina."

The city car, based on the Multi-Energy Common Modular Platform (CMP) for fully electric as well as hybrid engines, was developed with the goal of being agile and dynamic, providing high road grip and stability while also being highly comfortable.

For the first two trim levels, six colors are available, in addition to the two-tone variants characterized by the combination with a black roof: Grigio Granito, Nero Ardesia, Bianco Marmo, Blu Lancia, Verde Giada, Oro. The Nuova Lancia Ypsilon Edizione Cassina, on the other hand, is exclusively available in the exclusive shade Blu Lancia, an iconic color in the brand's tradition.

Four Development Goals

The development work focused on four main areas: onboard well-being, sound quality, manufacturing quality, and driving pleasure. For onboard well-being, a special soundproofing package was developed to create a relaxing and soundproof environment regardless of road surface and vehicle speed. A special sealing package was also developed for the doors to improve the noise quality when closing. A new design for the handles aims to convey a noticeable sense of robustness.

In addition to these interventions, driving enjoyment was also considered: the development team widened the track by 24 mm to ensure better weight distribution and better handling of the new model. The steering was also calibrated for high driving precision. Finally, specific tuning of the suspension was worked on, which should be more dynamic but never too stiff.

Living Room on Wheels

The pillar of the infotainment concept is S.A.L.A., a virtual and intelligent interface that contains the essential parameters for a comfortable driving experience. Sala means living room in Italian, but in this case, it stands for Sound Air Light Augmentation, encompassing the functions of audio, climate control, and lighting. Driver and passenger can adjust the interior climate at the touch of a button.

The vehicle's audio system was specially developed by a Lancia sound designer. The air conditioning system is equipped with a highly efficient filter that removes up to 99% of harmful particles, ensuring a healthier interior. The lighting in the vehicle can be individually adjusted by simply tapping the display, creating an exclusive atmosphere in combination with the ambient lighting. The "living room" concept is also reflected in other components of the vehicle, such as the adjustable, massaging, and heated electric seats.

Extensive Equipment

An extensive range of equipment ensures the on-board experience of the new Lancia Ypsilon. Highlights include the keyless entry and start system and the parking assist, consisting of cameras with 180° view and sensors at the front and rear, making maneuvering easier. This is complemented by a dual screen, the largest display in the category with a total diagonal of 20.5 inches, and a digital 10.25-inch instrument/radio display that can be customized in terms of layout and colors.

The S.A.L.A. also comes standard with Bluetooth Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless phone charger, and three USB-C ports. The infotainment system is complemented by S.A.L.A. HUB, a virtual assistant designed to enhance the connection between car and driver. To complete the driving experience, the new Lancia Ypsilon comes standard with a Level 2 autonomous driving system. It automatically adjusts travel speed and lane position using adaptive cruise control and lane centering. Level 2 can be activated between 30 and 150 km/h and also includes a traffic jam assistant with stop-and-go function, which automatically restarts the car.

Range of up to 403 km

With a powerful 115 kW engine and a 51-kWh battery, the new Ypsilon in the E-version offers a range of up to 403 km in the combined WLTP cycle, which can increase to over 500 km in the city. Fast charging from 20% to 80% SoC occurs in 24 minutes, equivalent to a range charging power of 100 km in ten minutes. According to the manufacturer, the vehicle's energy consumption is between 14.3 and 14.6 kWh per 100 km.

The mild hybrid version is powered by a 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine with 100 PS/74 kW and 48V hybrid technology. Its performance data includes a top speed of 190 km/h, acceleration from 0 to 100 in nine seconds, and emissions between 103 and 104 g/km in the WLTP cycle. The vehicle is capable of driving 25% of its maximum range electrically.

The hybrid version is equipped with the six-speed automatic transmission e-DCT, allowing the driver to adapt their driving style to their needs with the help of electronic functions such as e-Start, e-Parking, e-Queuing, and e-Creeping.

Charging with Free2move Charge

The charging offer available to all Lancia customers consists of two solutions: for home (Free2move Charge Home) and on the go (Free2move Charge Go).

For home use, Lancia and Free2move Charge have selected the Easy-Wallbox, which customers can receive immediately after ordering the vehicle to install at home before their new Ypsilon is delivered. If they do not wish to install the Easy-Wallbox themselves, Lancia customers can get support from a certified installer with a simple call to customer service.

All Lancia customers can also access the extensive network of public Free2move Charge Go charging stations while on the go. With the charging pass issued together with the electric Lancia Ypsilon and Lancia Ypsilon LX, customers can charge their car at over 700,000 public charging stations across Europe, with a single account and simplified payment.

Further Models

The new Lancia Ypsilon will be launched in Belgium, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands, followed by Spain and France and in 2025 Germany. In total, a network of over 70 new dealers in 70 European cities will be established. Additionally, Lancia has confirmed the market launch of a second and third electrified model: The Gamma will be available from 2026, the Delta from 2028.
