The battery-powered Lancia Cassina Limited Edition is described as the first concrete step in Lancia's renaissance, fully committed to electrification. In 2026, a new Gamma is expected to follow as a CUV top model, and in 2028 a new Delta. Starting in 2026, Lancia plans to introduce only new models with pure electric drives and exclusively sell electric vehicles from 2028 onwards.

For the electric Ypsilon, we expect the 115 kW (156 PS) front-wheel drive. The "large" 51-kWh battery should also allow for a range of around 400 kilometers here and be able to charge at up to 100 kW.

In Italy, the first limited special series with an electric drive can be reserved starting February 14, 2024. Pre-orders will soon be possible exclusively online, without a deposit. Lancia has not yet announced prices, but one can expect that the Y will be noticeably higher than its platform siblings Opel Corsa and Peugeot 208.

Interior like a loft

The technical basis here is also the Stellantis e-CMP platform. The model shares many components with cars from the sister brands Citroën, Peugeot, Opel, and Jeep, with many parallels to the Opel Corsa being noticeable when looking at the structure closely. However, Lancia configures the interior of the Y quite differently – much more like an apartment: With upright screens reminiscent of a TV, a small round table "standing" in the footwell of the center console, and the seat upholstery featuring the plush of the 1970s, which remains typical for the brand alongside Alcantara.

In this respect, the Y is clearly positioned as a character actor in the compact segment, which should and must achieve better margins than Corsa and Co through higher prices…In addition to the purely electric version, there will also be a mild-hybrid version.

What does that mean?

Lancia has drummed very loudly and implemented strong details – yet the proportions of the Y are very reminiscent of the Opel Corsa's raw construction. Could a bit more have been a bit more? Still, an exciting new addition to the compact segment in the four-meter class.
