Keba has sold 100,000 charging stations.
The fact that the topic of electromobility is growing strongly is evident from the massively increasing demand for charging technology. At Keba, the exponential growth of the business unit has led to 35,000 charging stations being sold and delivered in the last financial year (April 2017 to March 2018). The monthly output has increased tenfold over the years: Whereas initially around 600 charging stations were sold per month, today it is around 6,000. Accordingly, the team of employees in this business unit is also continuously growing.
When Keba presented the first prototype of a charging station just over ten years ago, electromobility was still a thing of the future. "With the charging stations for environmentally friendly traffic, we have created a new field for the future," says Keba CEO Gerhard Luftensteiner happily. 600 charging stations were put into operation within the first two years, predominantly in the home markets of Austria and Germany at that time.
Since the introduction of a home charging station in 2012, which replaced the first KeContact flex charging station, 100,000 of these charging stations have now been sold worldwide. The golden "anniversary wallbox" went to Keba's customer Clever in Sweden – an electromobility provider that has made a name for itself primarily through its business model and holistic approach in the industry. Andreas Plotz, Executive Sales for Electromobility at Keba AG, said: "We are pleased that the 100,000th wallbox went to Clever in Sweden and we can celebrate this special milestone and the cooperative partnership with Clever. In addition to our core markets, the Scandinavian countries are the most important sales markets in the field of electromobility and play a pioneering role." Fredrik Nordin, CEO Clever Sweden, adds: "KEBA's charging stations continue to impress us with their high quality and reliability."
What does this mean?
Electromobility is slowly but surely gaining momentum – as the numbers from Keba impressively demonstrate.
