Karsan continues to expand its market position in Romania – the Transylvanian city of Deva has now ordered 22 e-Jest and 4 e-Atak buses from the Turkish bus manufacturer, which are set to be delivered in the second half of next year. Including the new order, Karsan has already sold 158 units of its electric buses in Romania.

Details

The 6-meter-long e-Jest boasts high maneuverability. It is equipped with a BMW electric motor producing 170 hp and 290 Nm of torque, as well as 44- and 88-kWh batteries, also from BMW. Karsan specifies a range of up to 210 km for the e-Jest. Thanks to the regenerative braking system with energy recovery, the batteries of the e-Jest can recharge up to 25%.

The small electric bus comes equipped with a 10.1-inch multimedia touchscreen, a fully digital dashboard, keyless start, USB ports, and Wi-Fi-compatible infrastructure, according to Karsan.

Karsan specifies a range of 300 km for the 8-meter-long e-Atak. The electric bus features a dynamic design line on its front and rear sections and offers seating for 52 passengers. The electric motor provides a power output of 230 kW and a torque of 2,500 Nm.

According to Karsan, it has a total capacity of 220 kWh distributed across five 44 kWh batteries developed by BMW. The e-Atak can be charged either at AC chargers in 5 hours or in 3 hours at a fast charger. As with the e-Jest, up to 25% of energy can be recovered through the braking system via recuperation.
