Jeep Avenger saves fuel as a mild hybrid

48V hybrid technology enables electric driving maneuvers and aims to reduce consumption by at least one liter. A compromise for electric skeptics who do not yet trust the long-range all-electric BEV Avenger.

Stellantis subsidiary Jeep has expanded the drive offering for the compact SUV Avenger with the new e-Hybrid version, in addition to the versions already available with electric or combustion engines. The Jeep Avenger as a mild hybrid with 48-volt technology comes fully equipped starting at 27,000 euros gross. "The 48-V technology is the entry point to electric driving and offers a lot of driving fun while simultaneously reducing CO2 emissions," advertises Jeep Germany's CEO Luigi Saia. Thanks to the combination of the 6-speed dual-clutch transmission and the integrated electric motor, electric driving at low speeds is possible. During parking maneuvers or driving at speeds of up to 30 km/h, the E-mode is activated and allows an electric range of up to 1 km.

The combination of the 1.2-liter 3-cylinder combustion engine with 74 kW (100 hp), the 48-volt lithium-ion battery, and the 6-speed dual-clutch transmission with an integrated 21 kW electric motor is designed to increase comfort and reduce consumption to a combined 5.0-4.9 l/100 km. Under typical driving conditions, the engine is optimized for fuel efficiency and aims to achieve a reduction in CO2 emissions by up to 15% and a fuel saving of nearly one liter per 100 kilometers compared to the similarly powered non-electrified Jeep Avenger 1.2 (5.8-5.7 l/100 km) with automatic transmission. Customers have the choice of a 7-inch e-Hybrid instrument cluster with specific mild-hybrid driving information or a 10.25-inch e-Hybrid instrument cluster in the interior. Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with steering wheel paddles to take control of gear selection in manual mode.
