Invers FleetShare: Sharing cars between fleets

With FleetShare, fleet operators should be able to increase the utilization of their vehicles by temporarily sharing individual vehicles with other operators.

For fleet operators, optimizing vehicle utilization poses a central challenge. Idle vehicles cost money but do not generate revenue. Fleet operators typically understand the demand patterns of their business model well and can predict periods of particularly high or low utilization. With FleetShare from Invers, they can now make vehicles from their fleet available to their partners when demand is low or add their partner's vehicles to their own fleet during periods of high demand.

Interesting for standard fleets, car sharers, or car rental companies

Operators aim to better utilize their vehicles during times of low usage, especially in corporate car sharing, car subscription models, or traditional car rental. At the same time, mobility marketplace or P2P platform operators benefit from additional vehicles during peak demand with FleetShare, without having to invest in new vehicles. “For many of our customers, balancing fluctuating supply and demand periods is one of the most important tasks in fleet management,” says Bharath Devanathan, CBO of Invers, and adds:

“The API-centric approach of our solution now enables flexible sharing of vehicles across different fleets. This means that sharing a car is now as simple as sharing a photo with a friend via mobile phone—with just one click.”

One line of code is enough for access

Invers OneAPI acts as a unified interface through which operators can access another provider's fleet with Invers technology with just one line of code. The tedious integration of individual B2B APIs from different operators is eliminated. At the same time, operators receive the same information and command options as with their own vehicles, allowing users to have a keyless sharing experience without having to adjust existing processes.

Practical for end customers as well

End customers can book and use these shared vehicles just like any other vehicles in the operator’s fleet, without having to follow an embedded link or log into another app.

Fewer cars in cities – and thus less land consumption

The new FleetShare offering aims to significantly increase the utilization of individual vehicles to reduce the total number of vehicles, relieve streets and cities, and protect the environment. It meets the mobility needs of citizens without bringing additional vehicles into the city. At the industry event Autonomy Mobility World Expo 2023 in Paris, Invers FleetShare was awarded the Autonomy Innovation Award in the Shared Mobility category.

Invers, according to their own statements, the inventor of automated vehicle sharing, offers hardware and software solutions specifically designed for developers of shared mobility providers. These solutions allow operators to introduce, implement, and scale their offerings. As the world's first technology company in the shared mobility sector, Invers develops and manages fundamental technology components on a scale that provides customers with efficient and easy-to-implement technical solutions. The company acts as an independent and reliable partner for operators of shared mobility solutions such as car sharing, car subscriptions, moped sharing, ride pooling, and car rental – with the goal of making shared mobility offers a cost-effective and convenient alternative to private vehicle ownership. Customers include, for example, Share Now, Clevershuttle, Miles, imove, Carify, Getaround, and Flinkster. The company was founded in 1993 and has locations in Siegen, Cologne, and Vancouver. Development is carried out entirely in Germany.

What does this mean?

With FleetShare, Invers perfects sharing further. It would be a major benefit if the potential behind it could be fully exploited.
