International Bus Planner Sustainability Award 2024 to be presented at BUS2BUS
The busplaner has awarded the International busplaner Sustainability Award for the sixth time since 2013. During an evening award ceremony as part of the BUS2BUS in Berlin, winners in eleven categories as well as three special prize winners were honored. These were previously determined by the jury team consisting of Anja Ludwig (KRAVAG), Horst Windeisen (TRANSDEV), and Robert Domina and Claus Bünnagel (both HUSS-VERLAG).
HUSS-VERLAG Managing Director Rainer Langhammer and busplaner Editor-in-Chief Claus Bünnagel hosted the program during the ceremony. The awards were alternately presented to the winners by representatives of BUS2BUS and HUSS-VERLAG, as well as by juror Anja Ludwig.
On the occasion of the competition, numerous contributions on innovative products and services that have high potential to sustainably change the bus industry in the coming years, particularly regarding environmental friendliness and resource conservation, had previously been submitted. As with the readers' competitions for the busplaner Innovation Award 2022 and 2023, there was once again a record number of participants to report for the International busplaner Sustainability Award 2024: never before had so many applications been received in the individual categories.
“We are very proud of this. It shows that companies continue to pursue the topic of sustainability with emphasis, despite the diverse current crises in politics and the economy, and despite the reductions in federal funding for electromobility,” commented HUSS-VERLAG Managing Director Rainer Langhammer.
The winner's field at the International busplaner Sustainability Award 2024 was very diverse. Although multiple applications in different categories were possible and this option was also used by the manufacturers, there were finally eleven different winners in eleven categories after the expert jury's vote using a detailed point system.
Highly contested once again were the categories of 12 and 18-m electric buses with a high number of entries. Here, Daimler Truck AG with the Mercedes-Benz eCitaro fuel cell and VDL with the Citea LF-181 finally prevailed. MAN won in the E-Midis and Minis category with the Lion’s City 10 E. The winners in the vehicle categories were completed by Tremonia Mobility with the Sprinter City 75 (conventional mini and midibuses), Scania with the i6 Super HDH LBG (inter-city and coach buses), and IVECO BUS with the E-WAY H2 (hydrogen buses).
There were also numerous exciting competition entries in the categories of vehicle components and equipment, whose consistently high quality made the jury's decision difficult. In the end, forward-looking products such as the electric central drive CeTrax 2 dual from ZF, the Ecological Mobile CO2 System 2.0 from Konvekta, or the AI cloud camera used by Dittmeier Versicherungsmakler GmbH won the race.
Among the touristic candidates and projects suggested by the busplaner editorial team, Avanti Busreisen (bus tour operator), the LÉGÈRE HOTELGROUP (hotel industry), and the Leipzig Zoo (destination and adventure world) prevailed.
