IAA Transportation 2024: Zeitung Transport launches two expert forums - when the switch is worth it
The newspaper Transport from Munich's Huss-Verlag is participating in the supporting program of this year's IAA Transportation with two specialist forums. Editor-in-chief Christine Harttmann will moderate the two discussion rounds, which will take place on the Industry Stage of the conference on Wednesday and Thursday. The focus will be on current challenges of the industry, such as the conditions for electric trucks and the transition to sustainable fleets.
On September 18, 2024, at 2:30 PM, industry experts will meet under the title "Status quo of charging infrastructure – how far can the e-truck go in Europe?" The e-truck is on the rise, but without the appropriate charging infrastructure, the full potential of this technology could remain untapped. The forum will discuss the current challenges and opportunities in expanding the charging infrastructure for e-trucks in Europe. Where are the obstacles, where are the opportunities? What must the government achieve, and what is the role of the industry? The discussion will include the role of politics, the industry, and supplementary technologies such as fuel cells and tire technology.

On Thursday, September 19, 2024, at 2:30 PM, the forum's topic will be "Funding Opportunities for the Transition to Sustainable and Climate-Friendly Fleets." Sustainability and climate-friendliness are central themes in the transport and logistics sector. However, the high acquisition costs of sustainable vehicles pose challenges for many companies. Funding programs can provide support, but given the current situation with only a few available funding options, the question arises: How can the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) still be secured? The forum will explore possible funding instruments and, more importantly, intensively discuss how companies can finance the transition to sustainable fleets even without subsidies.
