IAA Transportation 2022: Climate-neutral stands and infrastructure in focus

IAA TRANSPORTATION 2022 in Hannover aims to restart with a new concept and focus on the industry themes of energy transition, sustainability, and climate neutrality, positioning itself as the internationally leading platform of the transport and logistics sector. Central elements of the modified "Experience Concept" include the IAA "Plug and Play Campus". This campus highlights infrastructure topics such as charging networks and 5G connectivity and invites exhibitors to demonstrate innovations in these areas on the demonstration areas. Through the direct connection of the campus to the newly designed indoor departure terminal, the organizer VDA aims to create direct connection points between visitors who are test drivers on the road set established there as part of the IAA Test Drives and exhibitors presenting their solutions on the Plug and Play Campus.

“The IAA Plug and Play Campus offers exhibitors the unique opportunity to showcase their most exciting and innovative use cases from the constantly growing infrastructure sector, live and under realistic conditions that you won't find at any other trade fair. Whether it’s charging infrastructure, payment software, 5G connectivity, or the fuel station of the future, the potential topics are not only diverse but also of great relevance for the future of the transport and logistics industry," explains VDA Managing Director Jürgen Mindel.

Partner myclimate enables climate-neutral trade fair appearance

Climate neutrality is seen as no less relevant with a view to the future of the industry. Therefore, this year, the fair enables all exhibitors to have a climate-neutral presence, including certification. They are partnering with the provider myclimate, specialists in CO2 compensation and climate protection consulting. However, participation in the project is, of course, voluntary, as the organizer emphasizes.

“Major international leading trade fairs also bear great responsibility. Consequently, we are delighted as a non-profit organization and professional climate protection advisors that the fair organizers are embarking on their path toward climate neutrality," promotes the Managing Director of myclimate Germany, Stefan Baumeister, for the option.

Together, they offer all exhibitors the opportunity to compensate for their individual CO2 e-trade balance. This is done through high-quality projects that are certified according to the highest quality standards, promises Baumeister. The world's leading trade fair follows the example of IAA MOBILITY, which also entered a corresponding partnership with myclimate in 2021.

“The excellent experiences of the previous year have strengthened our commitment in the field of climate neutrality. For this reason, we are expanding the partnership with myclimate further, so that this year the exhibitors of IAA TRANSPORTATION can also benefit from our partner's expertise and voluntarily contribute their part to climate protection,” concludes Jürgen Mindel.
