i-Mobility Stuttgart 2022: Kyburz makes e-mobility in every situation

The traditional Swiss manufacturer is positioning itself as an alternative to classic transporters with its versatile electric light vehicles. Especially in trade and logistics, the space-saving and emission-free vehicles can score points. And an autonomous passenger version.

Swiss light electric vehicle specialist Kyburz also utilized the i-Mobility stage in Stuttgart to showcase its portfolio. Particularly notable was the further development of an autonomous passenger transporter for the Last Mile. The Plus II Autonomous independently covers routes at a speed of up to 10 km/h. When steered by a driver, it can reach speeds of up to 30 km/h. The vehicle can, for instance, pick up individuals or be summoned to a location. Afterwards, it returns to its starting point. The manufacturer promotes the prototype model as a flexible option for public transport on less busy routes.

The range of the electric quad, which is only 1.86 meters long, 93 centimeters wide, and 1.66 meters high, is 80 kilometers using a 300 Ah LiFePo battery, which can be recharged in 12 hours at 0.9 kW. The 300-kilogram vehicle, which can carry up to 150 kilograms, has a climbing capacity of 30 percent. The autonomous driving capabilities are ensured by a 3D Lidar, eight ultrasonic sensors, a radar, as well as GPS localization, and 360° cameras. Braking is controlled via ABS.

The Autonomous eTrolley, equipped with identical sensor technology, is also expected to contribute to future mobility. It aims to enable autonomous delivery in logistics at speeds of up to 6 km/h with a range of 40 kilometers. The load capacity of the 90-kilogram vehicle is 120 kilograms. It can also be used as an escort vehicle for foot delivery personnel.

Recently, the manufacturer, who has been active in the field for over thirty years, referred to its versatile portfolio of light electric commercial vehicles, which can be adapted depending on the application, such as for garbage collection, street maintenance, or logistics, and represent a space-saving and energy-efficient alternative to conventional light transporters. Various trailers are also available for the models DXP and DXC, which can travel up to 45 km/h, and even a type of high-volume semi-truck is feasible. The vehicles are also already being used in large numbers by postal services. Recently, an order from the Hungarian Post for 800 DXP units for delivery was added.
