Hyundai Motor Deutschland has now started a cooperation with battery testing specialist Aviloo and aims to offer the so-called Flash Test at the 263 participating dealerships. The easy-to-conduct quick test checks the functionality of the drive battery within a few minutes. Battery performance plays a decisive role when buying or selling a used electric car, as the condition of the high-voltage battery can account for up to 50 percent of the total value of an electric car, according to the manufacturer.

The cooperation started in 2023 with a pilot test during which initial Hyundai dealers were equipped with battery diagnostic devices. Now, the service is gradually being expanded to all Hyundai Promise locations. It works with almost all makes.

“We are pleased to offer our customers this special service nationwide in the future,” explains Tobias Krumnikl, Head of Corporate Customers & Used Car Strategy at Hyundai Motor Deutschland.

Comparison of Usable Energy with Energy in New Condition

The test compares the actually usable energy with the energy present in new condition and provides an Aviloo score after a three-minute rapid test. This score is based on a multitude of test data and considers factors such as total energy consumption, charging and full cycles, as well as driving behavior through big data applications. The higher the measured value, the better the condition of the high-voltage battery. In cases of substantial risks, the Flash Test delivers a "Red Flag" report with specific indications of the nature and type of the fault.

"The collaboration with Hyundai is of strategic importance to us," explains Marcus Berger, CEO of Aviloo.

The used car program "Hyundai Promise – Certified Pre-Owned" is intended to provide customers with safety when purchasing a used Hyundai or another make from participating Hyundai dealers. The number of partners utilizing the used car program is steadily increasing. Last year, approximately 28,750 Hyundai Promise vehicles were sold.
