Hyundai also assumes the government's share of the environmental bonus.

As already announced by various other electric car manufacturers regarding their respective models, Hyundai will also cover the canceled state share of up to 4,500 euros of the environmental bonus for private customers who have ordered their vehicle by 16.12.2023. This assurance applies to already completed purchase contracts for a Kona Electric (new and old model) as well as Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6, for which no more funding applications can be submitted to the Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control (BAFA). For vehicles purchased by the key date and registered by December 31, 2023, the Koreans, together with participating contractual partners, will refund the state share of the environmental bonus of 4,500 euros. For registrations in the first quarter of 2024, Hyundai will cover the announced, reduced state subsidy of 3,000 euros. With this, the import brand is reacting to the decision of the federal government to cancel the purchase premium for electric vehicles.

 

The Hyundai promotion for Kona Electric as well as Ioniq 5 and 6 in detail:

• With a purchase or leasing contract up to and including December 16, 2023, and initial registration to the end customer by December 31, 2023, buyers will receive the previous state premium of 4,500 euros gross (3,782 euros net) from Hyundai
• Hyundai BEV vehicles with a purchase contract up to and including December 16, 2023, and initial registration in the first quarter of 2024 (from January 1, 2024, to March 31, 2024), Hyundai guarantees the takeover of 3,000 euros gross (2,521 euros net) as an environmental bonus
• Hyundai also complies with the minimum obligation of the manufacturer's share
• The prerequisite is that by December 16, 2023, a valid purchase or leasing contract (with a minimum term of 24 months) for one of the eligible models has been concluded with an authorized Hyundai dealer and all other requirements for the environmental bonus are met

“For us, it is self-evident that we do not leave customers with already concluded purchase contracts out in the rain. We were also surprised by the decision of the federal government and sought a solution in close coordination with our trading partners to continue granting these customers the full amount of the subsidy,” explains Jürgen Keller, Managing Director of Hyundai Motor Germany.
