At the end of the year, there's renewed activity in the trade fair scene: the networking event Hypermotion at the Frankfurt am Main exhibition center has started. The mix of conferences, trade fair, start-up pitches, and talks in Hall 5.1 is under the patronage of the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure and the state of Hesse. The event was opened by Dr. Tobias Miethaner, Head of the Department at the Federal Ministry of Transport, Mathias Samson, State Secretary at the Hessian Ministry of Economics, Energy, Transport and Regional Development, and Detlef Braun, Managing Director of Messe Frankfurt: “The transport and mobility transition is a necessary task where many people, companies, parties, and interest groups must pull together – and ideally in the same direction. Hypermotion provides the ideal framework for this,” said Detlef Braun.
Until November 22, 2018, 138 exhibitors, including eleven research projects from universities, are showcasing their products and solutions at the intersections of mobility and logistics. According to Messe Frankfurt, the proportion of participating start-ups has more than tripled compared to the previous year: a total of 36 founders are presenting themselves, many of them also at the pitches in the Hypermotion Lab and at speed networking. The participating companies are showcasing solutions for urban mobility, among other things. For example, the cable car manufacturer Doppelmayr is showing how cable cars connect city centers in Bolivia. Other companies are presenting intelligent sensor technologies used to control traffic in cities to reduce air pollution. The start-up Smart City Loop, for example, is presenting an environmentally friendly solution developed for large cities and metropolitan areas: pallets with goods are transported automatically through underground pipe systems.
Other topics at the event include car-sharing offers, smart mobility and smart parking solutions, mobile ticketing applications for public transport, software for traffic planning and monitoring, digital innovation platforms, intelligent energy infrastructures, and sustainable intermodal mobility solutions. Among the exhibitors are 8energy, AirSensa, Brose, the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI), BVG, DHL, ESWE Verkehr, Fraunhofer Verkehr, Fraport, Geospin, Green Mobility Solutions, Hessen Mobil Straßen- und Verkehrsmanagement, HUSS-VERLAG, House of Logistics & Mobility (HOLM), Ispace Europe, IVU Traffic Technologies, Jaguar Land Rover Germany, Jobrad, Linde Material Handling, Mainova, Mobileeee, Mobimeo, PSI Mines & Roads, RMV, Rydies, Rytle, SAP, Savvy Telematic Systems, SICK, Siemens Mobility, Smapone, Smart City Loop, SSI Schäfer, STF ITech, Swisslog, Synfioo, Technical University of Ilmenau, Technical University of Munich, Telematics Market, VDV eTicket Services, ViaVan, and Vodafone.
Embedded in the Hypermotion are several conferences and on November 21, 2018, the VISION mobility think tanks, which discuss urban systems and mobility developments in three rounds of talks. Talk round 1 is about “Easier delivery on the last mile – how to serve customers more efficiently and faster.” The second think tank also revolves around urban development under the slogan: “Make way” – How new mobility concepts can reclaim space in city centers.” The conclusion is the topic “City under power – New trends in charging technology.”
