The first Hypermotion brought new momentum to the discussion about digital, connected, and emission-free mobility and logistics solutions. In addition to the participation of the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI) with partners Logistics Alliance Germany, the Federal Highway Research Institute (BASt), and the National Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology Platform, more than 100 participating companies showed how tomorrow's transport and traffic systems can look. Among the exhibitors were Deutsche Bahn, Rhein-Main Transport Association, ESWE Verkehr, Hamburger Hochbahn, BVG, SAP, SICK, PTV Group, and Teradata, as well as over 20 start-up companies.
"Hypermotion is more than a traditional trade fair that showcases new products. As a knowledge-based platform with a series of high-level professional conferences on important future topics, the format itself drives new innovations," said Detlef Braun, Managing Director of Messe Frankfurt. At Hypermotion, one could also experience live competitions where start-up companies presented their ideas. Additionally, there was a hackathon where tinkerers and technicians developed new applications based on challenges from Lufthansa Cargo, Schmitz Cargobull, and Deutsche Bahn. Braun: "Hypermotion brings together young and established players and creates space for new collaborations." The three Think Tanks of VISION mobility, which moderated three rounds on promising future topics, generated great interest and partly lively discussions.
Rainer Bomba (CDU), State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure, visited Hypermotion on two days. "Mobility today is something completely different from what it was ten years ago," said Bomba. To seize the opportunities arising from new digital technologies while meeting the requirements of increased resource efficiency, it is "imperative to perceive the areas of mobility and logistics as one issue." One area alone cannot manage it. Bomba: "In its events and programs, Hypermotion embodies the necessary cooperation between manufacturers, associations, and politics, between large and small tech companies, startups, researchers, and visionaries."
The professional conferences during Hypermotion were coordinated in terms of time and content. The organizers included, in addition to the Munich HUSS-Verlag, responsible for the Think Tank talk rounds as well as the Logistics Digital Conference (LDC!), Convent, IST Deutschland, Forum Elektromobilität, Fraunhofer Transport Alliance, KCW, SmartCity.Institute, and Travel Industrie Club.
What does it mean?
Successful start: The communication and trade fair landscape is also changing, and Hypermotion offered a successful new mix for this. Therefore, further planning is underway: The next Hypermotion will take place from November 20 to 22, 2018, in Frankfurt again.
