The Japanese automobile manufacturer Honda is accelerating the gradual transition to electrified drivetrains and has now also switched the compact SUV HR-V to exclusive hybrid drive. Previously, the Honda Jazz had already been converted to the e:HEV named, closed dual powertrain. There are likely no other engine variants for the H-RV either. In February, the new generation of the SUV will be presented, it was said. The manufacturer promises the combination of high efficiency with driving pleasure and direct responsiveness. The SUV with HEV is seen as part of Honda's electromobility strategy, within which all volume models in Europe are to be equipped with at least a partially electrified drive by 2022.
The brand's only fully electric vehicle so far is the small car Honda-e. In the VM test, this vehicle showed, in comparison to the Honda Jazz e:HEV, that the manufacturer is currently better at hybrid technology than pure electric drives and achieved a moderate range with poor energy efficiency for its vehicle class of 20.8 kWh/100 km. In contrast, the Jazz completed the VM round with an actual 3.7 l/100 km, making it extremely economical for a vehicle with a combustion engine.
