Heinrich-Meyer-Werke: PV carport with 285 spaces makes a profit of 4.6 million euros after 25 years

In particular, vast areas are concreted for parking spaces: estimates suggest there are more than 160 million public parking spaces in Germany. These spaces are utilized for energy production by the photovoltaic carport systems in massive timber construction from HM Carports (Heinrich Meyer-Werke). The electricity generated can either be delivered directly to electric vehicles on-site through a wallbox or profitably fed into the public grid.

Based on a calculation with 285 parking spaces, the amortization period of a system is seven years, and after 25 years, a profit of around 4.6 million euros from self-consumption of electricity can be expected. The application possibilities of HM Carport's PV carport systems are diverse, ranging from supermarkets and leisure parks to public facilities, industrial plants, and commercial enterprises.
