The North German e-mobility developer GP Joule Connect has handed over the fifth mobility station to the operator of the residential project Pioneer Park Hanau. The venture by LEG Hessen-Hanau on an old military base is the largest residential construction project in the Rhine-Main area and aims to set standards in the development of future-oriented supply and mobility concepts. Housing for up to 5,000 people is being created on an area of almost 50 hectares, including e-car sharing, public fast charging, as well as sharing and charging of e-bikes and e-cargo bikes. The provider from Reußenköge has acted as the general contractor for all stations in the planning and implementation and assumes both the technical and economic operation management of the systems.

Pedelecs and E-cargo bikes, sharing with E-cars

The mobility station positioned at the entrance of the area has been equipped with eight DC charging points for fast public charging of e-cars. The other stations are mainly oriented towards sharing and charging sharing vehicles. For the residents of PPH, where currently about 50 percent of the planned apartments are completed and already occupied, electric city bikes and cargo bikes are available. The fleet for car sharing currently includes nine electric cars from various manufacturers, mainly for use in urban traffic. The stations are powered by 100 percent green electricity provided by Greenpeace Energy and Stadtwerke Hanau.

GP Joule Connect is the operator of the charging and sharing facilities and takes care of customer service, vehicle maintenance, and station upkeep. All sharing vehicles can be booked through the smartphone app developed for Pioneer Park Hanau. In addition to the sharing service, the provider is also responsible for the charging infrastructure for private charging within the neighborhood. Here, the New Mobility experts handle the operational management, including billing and access management. With their own charging card, all residents can access several thousand charging stations in Germany upon request.

"When developing Pioneer Park, we decided early on to enable residents to change their mobility behavior by providing access to low-emission transportation right at their doorstep. This reduces traffic volume and emissions, and increases safety and quality of life in the neighborhood," explains Jakob Braeuninger, member of the management of BIG-BAU.

Two sides of the same coin: Pioneers in living and mobility

Manuel Reich, CEO of GP Joule Connect, expressed his delight at being able to support this project as one of the largest German developers in the e-mobility sector. Around 1,600 housing units for up to 5,000 people are set to be created in the coming years in Pioneer Park Hanau. The neighborhood offers a wide range of housing options – including a recently occupied daycare center for up to 120 children – for all ages and income levels, both for rent and purchase. LEG Hessen-Hanau GmbH, the company behind the project, sees this endeavor as a practical expression of social responsibility, providing not only affordable housing and innovative mobility solutions but also sustainable energy concepts. The Hessian Ministry of Economics is supporting the development of the charging infrastructure in Pioneer Park Hanau with 500,000 euros from its "Promotion of Electromobility" program.
