Global Mobility Call: European Meeting Point for Transformation in Transport
IFEMA Madrid and Smobhub have presented the second edition of the Global Mobility Call, an international event for sustainable mobility (from September 12 to 14 in Madrid). Five months before its start, the event has already attracted 30 associated partners as well as national and international associations, more than one hundred exhibiting companies, and 50 startups, according to the organizers. This year, the event will again be promoted by the Spanish government through the Ministry of Transport, Mobility, and Urban Agenda, with the support of the municipality of Madrid and the city council.
Important companies and associations from the energy sector (e.g., Cepsa, Iberdrola, and Total Energies), public transport (Transport Consortium, EMT, and Metro de Madrid), multimodal mobility (Adif, Aena, Arriva, Enaire, Iberia, State Ports, Renfe, and Senasa), technology and innovation (Etra, Indra, Ineco, and Sistem), and infrastructure like the National Geographical Institute and others will participate in the Global Mobility Call.
An estimated 15,000 participants
At the press conference, María José Rallo, Secretary General of Transport and Mobility from the Spanish government's Ministry of Transport, Mobility, and Urban Agenda, David Pérez, Regional Minister of Transport and Infrastructure for the Community of Madrid, José Vicente de los Mozos, Chairman of IFEMA MADRID, David Moneo, Project Manager of Global Mobility Call, and Juan José Lillo, Co-founder of Smobhub, presented the second edition of the event.
Promoting networking between companies and authorities
The Global Mobility Call will bring together 10,000 participating professionals and an estimated additional 15,000 participants through the digital platform. This aims to promote cross-sectoral relationships between companies, institutions, associations, and experts within the framework provided by the European Union's policies on energy savings and sustainable mobility through the NextGenerationEU funds, the organizers outlined.
Such funds will provide aids amounting to 800 billion euros, a large part of which will go to mobility projects. A 50% international participation is expected, with a strong presence from 16 European and Latin American countries.
"The introduction of new environmentally friendly mobility models is essential to minimize the severe impacts of the climate crisis we face. The Global Mobility Call 2023 is a unique opportunity to learn about the most advanced and innovative mobility solutions. I am confident that its conclusions will attract the attention of Spanish society and the global public," explained María José Rallo, Secretary General of Transport and Mobility.
According to José Vicente de los Mozos, President of IFEMA Madrid, "alliances with multilateral organizations will allow leading voices from the sectors that make up sustainable mobility to be heard at this second edition, while also consolidating the international influence of the event through the direct participation of major international organizations. We are also working with trade delegations from various European and Latin American countries to attract companies, investors, and international leaders."
On the agenda of the Spanish EU Presidency
This second edition coincides with the Spanish EU Council Presidency, which begins on July 1. The Ministry of Transport, Mobility, and Urban Agenda will organize two parallel events under the Global Mobility Call: the "Technical Conference on Mobility in Rural Areas" and a meeting of the "PEP Partnership for Active Mobility". Furthermore, the event will have a special area for national and international cities and regions to share experiences and knowledge about trends, success stories, and plans for implementing new mobility solutions and low-emission zones within the largest public-private cooperation and business platform for sustainable mobility.
Global Mobility Call aims to provide a stage for startups and scaleups in an innovation area, through forums and platforms, to promote new initiatives through public and private investment funds. There are also plans to foster young talent through universities, educational centers, and international organizations. The event is divided into two areas: the GMC Congress area and the GMC Expo area. The International Trade Fair for Safe and Sustainable Mobility (TRAFIC) will also take place within the framework of the Global Mobility Call.
